After graduating in modern trumpet from the “G. Donizetti” Conservatory of Music in Bergamo under the guidance of Ermes Giussani, Pietro Modesti was accepted to study the cornett with Bruce Dickey at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel: here he pursued his studies and was awarded a Master’s degree in historical performance in 2014.

As a cornettist he has collaborated with many ensembles around Europe, including  Ensemble Concerto Scirocco, Ensemble Opera Prima, Accademia Mauriziana, Orchestra Barocca di Bologna, Cappella Marciana, Orchestra Montis Regalis, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Festina Lente and the Baroque Band Les Esprits Animaux.

Furthermore, he has performed in many European festivals, such as MiTo (Milano-Torino Settembre Musica), Utrecht Festival, Innsbrucker Festwochen, Festival Cantar di Pietre and Herbst des Mittelalters, Basel.

He currently teaches cornett at the “Civica Scuola Claudio Abbado” in Milan.
